May 6 » Wekiva Presbyterian Church marks 35th anniversary on Sunday

What began as a small gathering of interested people in an area store front is now one of the largest congregations in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in greater Orlando. Wekiva Presbyterian Church in Longwood will be celebrating its 35th Anniversary on Sunday, May 6, at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in worship.  The church is located at 211 Wekiva Springs Lane. The Rev. Dr. John A. Dalles, will also be marking his 15th anniversary as the longest-serving senior pastor in the church’s history. The anniversary festivities will include the singing of a hymn “God Bless Wekiva” which was written by Dr. Dalles for the church’s anniversary. Dr. Dalles is a hymn writer of national repute; his hymns appear in 9 hymnals in the USA, Canada and Australia.

Wekiva Presbyterian Church is the first congregation in the United States to offer live worship webcasts at 11:00 a.m. every Sunday morning—a continuing ministry which was started in January of 2005. The church also houses The Tutor House, a free tutoring program for elementary school children and The Christian Child Center nursery school.

Thanks, Jeff!
