Collegiate Mission Trip 2012

The members of the 2012 Collegiate Mission Trip departed Wekiva Presbyterian Church's parking lot at 5 a.m. this morning.  Here are some photos, which are dark because...it was dark out!

Building a Wall of Faith
Building a Wall of Faith is the theme for Wekiva Presbyterian Church’s 2012 “Beyond Mission Trip”.
Young adult Wekiva members will be traveling to Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to work alongside Habitat for Humanity of Hardin County, the week of May 7th.   Hardin County Habitat has a great record of helping people toward home ownership; they began their 45th house on April 1st of this year. The group from Wekiva, who are all “Beyond” high school, and their advisors, will be working on siding and drywall to help complete House Number 45.
Each year, the church sponsors a team of “Beyond” members to go and do hands-on mission connected with a Habitat chapter in the Southeast; or as they did one year, helping in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  This year the group hopes to also participate in “Habitat Home Repair” (HHR), an outreach that provides critical home repair for needy homeowners. This includes building wheelchair ramps, repairing bathrooms, fixing floors or roofs and much more. Habitat told us the only requirement is a willingness to love your neighbor.  Wekiva’s group is definitely up to this job.
The mission team also shares in evening worship which this year will be based on the theme of Building a Wall of Faith. The lessons will be lead by a different participant each night and will include music.  They last worship of the week with is closing service lead by the trip advisors on Friday evening.
